Gerold Porzellan Website & Value Guides

Want to know what your item is worth?

Welcome To the Home of Gerold Porzellan

This website is a source of information dedicated to the history, research, and preservation of Gerold Porzellan from Tettau, Bavaria, Germany. Gerold porcelain was produced between the years of 1904 and 1997. Germany has long been renowned for having some of the world's finest porcelain artists and manufacturing facilities. Gerold is no exception and many of their items are rare.

If you have never heard of Gerold porcelain, you are not alone.  The Gerold Porzellan Company is one of the lesser-known Bavarian producers of fine porcelain, but gaining popularity due in part to this website.  Before 1999, there were no websites on the World Wide Web that provided any information about these collectible porcelain figurines and household items. Today this is the premiere website to learn about Gerold Porzellan.

For those of you visiting this website for the first time, let me explain this website is for informational purposes only.   Please see my Disclaimer at the end of this page.  The photos of their Gerold Porzellan collectibles are donated by people worldwide, thereby providing a means for others to help identify their Gerold items and learn more about the Gerold Porzellan Company.  I do not sell replacement parts. This is my hobby. Other than as a hobby, I am not affiliated with the Gerold Porzellan Company, as the company no longer exists.

Want to know the value of your Gerold Porzellan item?

Gerold Porzellan Value Guide

The number one question people always ask is, "What is my item worth?"  At first, I was nervous about quoting a price because I am not a licensed appraiser (see my Disclaimer). However, the same question continued to be asked time after time.  Therefore, I have created Value Guides for each category with all the current known values, guesstimates, and what I feel an item is worth based on my 50+ years of collecting and experience. I periodically update the value guides with more photos and missing model numbers ... the most recent update was completed in March of 2024.

This year in 2024, I have completed the new value guides which can be purchased at my online Etsy store. Currently, there are 29 Value Guides, which can be found at this link: https://geroldporzellan.etsy.com along with many Gerold Porzellan figurines and household items available for purchase.

Submitting Photos

If you have photos that you would like to submit to the gallery, please email them to geroldporzellan@gmail.com.  Not all photos are accepted, especially if others of an identical item already exist.  Be sure to include your full name so I can cite you as the owner of the photo.  Also, include any markings, incised model numbers, dimensions, or artist’s name that appears on the item.  The more information the better.

WANTED!

If you have information or historical knowledge of the Gerold Porzellan Company or its marks… perhaps a former employee, a relative, a friend…I want to hear from you!  I want to learn as much as I can about the company and the products they have produced.  Some former employees are alive today and I would love to hear from you. Even if you speak only German, I can use an online translator like Google Translate to translate your story. Contact me at geroldporzellan@gmail.com and I will reply as soon as possible.  I am especially interested in Gerold catalogs, brochures, flyers; any paper documentation, as these provide so much information about the products and company.  If you can scan and email these documents, great!  If you must mail them, let me know and we will work something out.

Missing Model Numbers & Dimensions

Another way to help grow this resource is to provide missing model numbers.

Throughout the chapters, you will notice many images of figurines are missing their model numbers and indicated with a "N/A" mainly because they were either too difficult to read or, rarely, they did not have a number inscribed on the bottom of the item.  If you have a Gerold Porzellan item with a legible model number and I don't have it listed, contact me at geroldporzellan@gmail.com.

Spread the Word!

Please help spread the word about this website by sending this link to your collector friends, antique dealers & anyone else you think would be interested.  This website is constantly evolving and updated with new photos and information.

Sincere Thanks!

And now a note of personal thanks...I am eternally grateful to everyone who has permitted me to collect their photos...without them, this website wouldn't be possible.  I take no credit for these photos...they belong to other people who have donated them for the express purpose of helping other people identify and learn more about their own Gerold Porzellan items. Just so you know, I peruse eBay for Gerold images to display, but I always ask permission to include them here.  You may have already heard from me!

I hope you find what you are looking for on this website and enjoy your wonderful Gerold Porzellan pieces.

Warm Regards,

JoAnn Snow
